Our mission is to prevent and cure blindness by supporting eye research, providing free vision screenings and operating an eye bank. We exist to meet the vision needs of Kentuckians, regardless of financial ability.

We exist to meet the vision needs of Kentuckians, regardless of financial ability. We have two vision screening programs, the Vision Van which provides free vision screenings to adults throughout the state at various health-fairs and our KidSight program which provides free vision screenings to children ages 1-6 to detect vision problems early before they start school so that children are given an equal opportunity to succeed.

Brooke attends daycare in Murray, Kentucky. Recently the Murray Lions Club came to her school to perform KidSight vision screenings. The results of her screening recommended Brooke to get a complete eye exam. The local eye doctor confirmed that Brooke has astigmatism and needed glasses, just as the screening results had predicted. Without this screening, Brooke’s mom admits that she would not have taken Brooke to the eye doctor because there were no signs of Brooke having any vision problem.

We also operate the University of Louisville Lions Eye Bank which harvests corneas to be transplanted so that people battling blindness due to cornea damage can regain sight. We truely believe in donating life because we see the impact that organ and tissue donors make every day. Please register to be a donor at www.donatelifeky.org.
